A photographer crafting stories for a better world | Patrizia C.

Wondering how is it the life of a Freelance Photographer? We asked Patrizia how she is living her best life aligned with her values and purpose. Patrizia is originally from Italy but she enjoys the digital nomad lifestyle. We asked her a few questions to get to know her better. Follow us on this journey.

What is your area of expertise?

I’m keen on Documentary Branding Photography paired with Content Marketing and Visual Storytelling. I work side by side with revolutionary brands, companies, and organizations that want to tell their truth on their web channels and have strong ethics. I specialize in crafting visual stories and plan compelling content on disparate topics that span from Environmental Sustainability to Human Rights and Freelance Lifestyle.

How did you become a freelance Documentary Branding Photographer/Storyteller?

Somehow, I always knew I wanted to be a freelancer and work as an independent professional. After graduating as a photo reporter in Rome and attending a course in Social media marketing, I started to work as a remote Social Media Manager for a big communication agency. That’s when I began to investigate the option of working as a nomad event and brand photographer and started to get some gigs as a photographer and as a content writer.

What do you enjoy the most about being a freelancer?

I really love having the possibility of running a purpose-driven business where I set my own values and work with people that share those same values. I also appreciate being location independent, this means traveling whenever I can and I want, and, last but not least, managing my own time at my own pace.

If you would not be freelancing, what would you be doing?

That’s a tough question, though If I would not be freelancing I think I will be opening a graphic design studio or working as a hairstylist or as an aid worker. I think each one of us contains multitudes and needs to embrace her/his own uniqueness.

What are your professional and personal goals?

My goals at the moment are: learning Spanish and German, exploring my inner self a little bit more through photography and creativity, learning more about environmental sustainability, and putting myself – my heart, my body, my mind – in the stories and human lives I meet along my way.

What makes you feel you’re contributing to a better world?

I know that I’m contributing to a better world when I’m kind to someone when I act from a place of hope and love when I help someone who’s in need, and when I stand for my rights as a young woman and solopreneur coming from the South of the world and when I fight for the ones that have no voice.

Favourite organization, and why?

One of my favourite organizations is the association called L’albero delle storie (in English The tales tree) which offers the chance to discover the world, learn and play to kids coming from the outskirts of Naples. Another one of my favourite projects is Cacciatori di Briciole (in English Breadcrumbs hunters), promoted by the organization Volontarius, where volunteers are in charge of collecting unsold food surplus from local shops and street markets and sharing it with people in need.
