Researcher at heart | Urviya Hasan | Consultant Reporter
This week we fly to Toronto, Canada, to meet Urviya, a well trained consultant specialized on themes such as Sustainability, CSR. and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).
Let’s take a closer look at her professional background:
I am a Masters’s graduate in Environmental Studies and Resource Management with 2.5+ years of experience. During my short tenure, I have worked with governmental, private as well as not-for-profit organizations – which has given me a wider understanding of how different types of corporations operate.
I have helped develop reports, engaged with clients, researched and analyzed markets and opportunities as well as read and grown myself to understand the basic intricacies of sustainability.
Learning about sustainability has helped me become more empathetic and efficient with my time management skills – because we need to save the planet and time is running out!
And a few more questions to get to know her better:
Why did you join Work for Impact?
As a consultant, we are always looking for opportunities to find better work and meet more clients. When I came across Work for Impact, I was immediately hooked, not only was I provided a platform to find better engagements, my work would actually be making an impact.
What motivates you?
I am a researcher at heart. Whenever I see a new report or document which caters to my area of interest, my mind immediately starts running and thinking of how and where I can utilise this information. My drive to learn and keep learning is what motivates everyday to get up and do my good deed for the day!
How would you contribute to make the world a better place?
I know I alone cannot make an impact which will reduce the course of climate change. But, I can reduce my consumption of plastic, use organic products, segregate my waste, teach my family about the importance of taking up sustainable habits and talk about it. I believe in being the change we want to see in the world. I’m taking the small step.
B-Corp has to be my favourite organisation. Their brand which has now become synonymous with sustainable business. More and more organisations are tackling challenges in their method of functioning and trying to become Certified B-Corp organisation. This helps them get better opportunities and the world become a better place.
