Pathways joins with REWAC to help refugees in Cameroon gain access to learning and digital skills that open doors to future career opportunities.

Pathways announces a strategic partnership with Refugee Welfare Association (REWAC) to empower refugees with education and career development tools

Pathways, an educational initiative sponsored by Work for Impact, is excited to announce a transformative partnership with the Refugee Welfare Association (REWAC), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and defending the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced persons in Cameroon. This collaboration aims to empower young talent in the refugee community by providing them with educational and career development tools, paving the way for a brighter future.

About REWAC

Founded in 2009, REWAC has been a beacon of hope for over 150,000 refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced persons in Cameroon. The organization's mission encompasses the provision of pro-bono legal aid, psycho-social support, sustainable livelihood projects, and the Refugee Children Education Fund. REWAC believes in walking in solidarity with displaced individuals, fostering respect, justice, and empowerment. Over the past 14 years, REWAC has grown from volunteer-led initiatives to an established NGO, positively impacting the lives of thousands.

REWAC's vision & mission

REWAC envisions a just Cameroon where the fundamental rights and dignity of all migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, IDPs, and marginalized people are valued, protected, and upheld. The mission is to champion the rights and well-being of these vulnerable populations through strategic programs, advocacy, awareness-raising, partnerships, and community empowerment.

The Pathways philosophy

The philosophy of the Pathways program is grounded in the belief that every young person, regardless of background or circumstances, deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Pathways is committed to empowerment, inclusivity, education and career development, skill acquisition, and job readiness.

Partnership highlights

    • Empowering through education: The collaboration aims to empower refugee youth by providing them with educational resources, skill-building opportunities, and career guidance.
      • Inclusive opportunities: Pathways, with the support of REWAC, is committed to reaching out to those who might otherwise be left behind, ensuring that opportunities are accessible to all.
        • Building a prosperous future: By investing in the potential of young talent, this partnership contributes to creating a more equitable and prosperous future for refugees as they integrate into their new society.

"Empowering the youth through education and job opportunities is not just an investment in their future. It's an investment in the future of our communities and the world."
