Tess is an independent Belgian storyteller, investigative journalist and communication tiger based in Lisbon by choice, whose stories explore the tense and complex relationships between man, himself and his environment. These almost cinematographic explorations lead us into captivating worlds on the crossroads between journalism and artivism.
She has an educational background in emotional bodywork, Eastern Language and Culture and Journalism, speaks 5 languages fluently and studied some funky things like shamanism and Chinese. Tess produced independent stories as well as commissioned pieces for media, organisations and individuals with a cause.
As a supporter of the solutions and slow journalism movement, Tess has produced an extensive portfolio of investigative news pieces and in-house reporting for European media (web, radio, print, multimedia) in English and Dutch, covering complex globalisation issues (social issues, human rights, climate change, international conflict) to far-from-the-spotlight grassroots movements in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.
Youthopia, a solo-tour through all member states of the EU resulting in an online web documentary about young Europeans in the run up to the European Parliament elections was shortlisted for the 2015 Encouragement Award for European Journalism.
Meanwhile she helped filmmakers, artists and organisations with a cause grow their audiences, was the editor in Chief of a political green party, co-authored an awarded feature film set in South-East Turkey (2017) and co-founded a humanitarian press agency focussed on the Greek refugee crisis (2016).
Working with Tess is diving into the core story of your organisation or project while tapping into the world of our mythic imaginarium and finding creative solutions to get the heart of your audience beat in tune with yours. (not the other way around)
