    Overseeing the health, wellness and beauty content for print, digital, social and email

    – Oversaw new website launch, working with the UX, SEO, and developer teams. First "issue" on the new platform saw roughly double the usual page view figures

    – Established a content calendar to plan – and land – weekly digital content. A first for the brand.

    – Lead on the launch of QR codes in the print magazine, which got 1000s of hits in the first trial issue

    – Conceived of, and launched, a new column in the magazine – The Everyday Activist – to promote sustainability and social justice.

    – Worked on a complete redesign of the magazine to modernise the look and make it feel a part of the national conversation

    – Manage a team of senior editors, and oversee the wider content team

    Acting Associate Editor, Boots Health & Beauty / Parenting Club (Aug 2017 - May 2019)

    – Editing health, wellbeing, and beauty content for Boots Health & Beauty and Boots Parenting Club

    – Deputising for editors of both brands

    – Working on the development of the brands' omnichannel strategies – from kinetic email development to exploring new social tools such as Pincodes.

    – Heading up the Health & Beauty's co-created and advertorial content – pitching and developing work with suppliers (including the likes of Dove, Vaseline, Toni&Guy etc).

    divided my time between in-house shifts and commissions. Titles I've been working for include Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, The Telegraph, Women's Health and the Times Educational Supplement. In-house work includes:

    Stylist, Acting Deputy Features Editor (2 months)

    Writing and editing copy on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from forced marriage to the trend for haute H20. Generating ideas for weekly features and news meetings.

    Working on the 10 Hot Stories section, coming up with news-led ideas and delivering copy to a tight deadline.

    Women's Health, Acting Features Editor (2 months)

    Editing everything from regulars to major investigative features, covering social trends, equality, health, diet and fitness. Contributing to the brand's social media schedule via Buffer.

    Women's Health, Acting Health Editor (2 months)

    Commissioning, editing and writing copy for the magazine and online (working with the CMS and on social media), including workout plans, product round-ups, and trend-based quizzes.

    Fit & Well, Launch Features Editor (2 months)

    Brought on board to help launch this brand new health and fitness mag for Time Inc. Involved in the early creative stage, as well as commissioning and editing copy for the first two issues. Plus wrote the celebrity cover stories and produced 'behind the scenes' video content with them at the photo shoots.

    2012 - 2014

    I joined the team as Commissioning Editor and pushed the coverage of all things cutting edge in health, fitness, psych and lifestyle. Within a year, I was promoted to Features Editor, where I kept the content bang on trend, brought on board brilliant writers from the nationals and created a social media strategy for the brand.

    2010 - 2012

    My time was divided between at-home commissions and in-house writing and editing shifts. I worked for titles including Boots Health & Beauty, Closer, Fabulous, Full house!, Healthy, Men’s Health and more!, and websites including aol.co.uk and closeronline.co.uk, as well as on a complete re-launch of a parenting site. After every stint of shifts I was offered a re-booking, and after every feature submitted I was re-commissioned.

    I wrote heaps for print and online on health, beauty, wellbeing, relationships and real life; organized shoots (often with 10 women plus babies); built contacts and learnt the art of creative ideas generation. When you can come up with a novel way to cover morning sickness for the hundredth time, you can put an exciting spin on anything!
