I am a 47 year old female, residing in South Africa. I have recently completed my Bachelors degree in International Relations. I am hoping that I can soon commence my career in the NGO field.
I have been working as a restaurant manager for the last ten years where my duties included planning for events, purchasing of goods, customer service, stock control and general administrative duties, such as planning, labour relations, finances and stock control.
Prior to working in the food and beverage sector, I worked as a production manager and producer in the local film industry. Starting up and managing a film was similar to project management. My duties included drafting of budgets and overseeing finances, recruitment of staff and talent, procurement of various services agreements, bookings of flights and accommodation, arrangements of visas as well as general administrative support to directors, producers, staff and talent.
I have always been interested in working in the NGO field, in the hope of doing meaningful work that could make a difference in the lives of others. Due to various constraints I was not able to further my studies until later in my life. Although I am older, I do believe that I possess a variety of valuable skills, obtained throughout my working life.
