Amal Hamidallah

As a lawyer, Amal Hamidallah began her career in the international affairs world. Following the dramatic shifts across the MENA region, she has built an all-encompassing portfolio of experience in advocacy, civil society, policy and planning, development, and political risk. She successfully brings her legal and political analytical skills to advise a variety of organizations, importing development goals to provide a holistic study of research areas. Along with a post-graduate diploma in law, Hamidallah has many years of hands-on experience, civil society capacity building, designing, overseeing, and implementing development, governance, and humanitarian policies. Her experience in the humanitarian and the Rule of Law sector has strengthened her capacity to engage and work in conflict areas. As Director of “Bridging the Gulf” foundation (2008-2015, EU and Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs project), I have worked extensively in the Middle East Region, especially in the civil society, Rule of law, peace, and reconciliation, building resilience, strengthening local capacities & local ownership. In her previous positions with Amnesty International, Cordaid, Geneva Call, she has developed a strong INGO experience including documented experience with organizational development and implementation of policies at field level and in conflict areas. Developed a good understanding of the modalities of partner-implemented and direct implemented programming and a proven track record for building the capacity of/and support to national partners, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work in partnership with a variety of organizations and local actors; with demonstrated strengths in cross-cultural interaction and work in politically sensitive contexts. Hamidallah has the expertise that spans the geographical regions of MENA and covering: Conflict prevention, conflict, and post-conflict analysis, strategy development, analysis and programming, democratization, domestic politics, gender equality, policy planning, political risk, regional and geopolitical dynamics, reconciliation, security, social cohesion, transitional politics including constitutional affairs, electoral programming, and judicial independence, and youth empowerment.
